Jakob was adopted and raised into a strict household that could best be equated to religious sect like the Amish or Mennonites. The family already had several daughters who were older and then later younger than him, whose father considered himself not just the patriarch, but the first and final say of everything. The man had a totalitarian view of running his family, and they lived with homemade everything, and lots of strange recitations of the Bible that seemed to have a lot of books removed or completely rewritten, and with an extreme worship of angels. They were all homeschooled with rigorous language studies and maths taught by his mother. He also learned ASL to communicate with his youngest sister who was deaf, whom he was closest with as his own stutter made it stressful to talk with anyone else.

At age 11, Jakob’s skin glowed when his sister was applying a bandage, and he was kept in the basement by their father, who wanted to put his son through ‘trials of suffering’ to help Jakob break away from his ‘flesh prison’ and ‘ascend.’ This was because he believed the boy to actually be an Angel. It is also when Jakob learned of his 'adoption', or rather that he'd been abandoned at their family's old church.

After a few more years of the abuse getting worse, Jakob’s youngest sister called CPS at the closest neighbor’s house. CPS removed Jakob, but not before his father scared him with chemicals to awaken the angel within. Jakob's skin shone with a bright light and his father was blinded and burned as a result. It was assumed that only the chemicals had injured them both.

Jakob underwent intense physical therapy and more education at a children’s hospital before being put into a ‘Children’s Home’ aka an Orphanage in Newark, NJ. There he was able to become enamored with technology and computers, something he'd been kept from all his life. He never learned when his birthday was, but his former mother implied to authorities it was likely sometime in late November 1999. He barely graduated, but managed to scrape by working freelance coding jobs and computer repair.

Powers: When he experiences heightened emotion or physical sensations, his skin will glow softly--often glowing when touched in such moments. It’s generally a soft yellow-y glow but has been known to become other colors. Depending on circumstances and Finch’s emotional state, the touch can heal minor injuries or cause a burn like touching a light bulb. The amount of healing/damage he causes puts a strain on him, so the more he does of either the weaker and more strained he becomes. Angel Wings.
Skills: He knows ASL (still struggles with more common dialects as his deaf sister used a more personalized vocabulary), computer building & programming, math, reads Latin, speaks Hebrew & German, candlemaking, sewing, some minor carpentry abilities.
Natural Talents: Functioning Insomniac, double-jointed in his fingers, exceptionally good at climbing and learning new languages.
Strengths: High endurance, a worryingly high pain tolerance, and stealthy.
Weaknesses: Poor people skills, easily overstimulated, grew up malnourished which lead to him being smaller and physically weak.
